On Wednesday 18 September 2019, the World Mission Day at ETS focussed on the topic Mission and Bible Translation.
We were joined for the day by Dr Eddie Arthur and Sue Arthur (Wycliffe Bible Translators) and Dr Derek Newton (OMF).
The programme began at 9.00am with a welcome and introduction from Dr Alistair Wilson, Coordinator of the ETS Centre for Mission, followed by a sermon by Dr Derek Newton (OMF).
This was followed by two sessions on issues relating to Bible translation where Dr Eddie Arthur (Wycliffe Bible Translators) spoke on ‘A Tale of Two Translations: Comparing the Authorised Version and a Modern Missionary Translation’. Sue Arthur (Wycliffe Bible Translators) then spoke on ‘Supporting Volunteer Translators in Madagascar’.
The day concluded with time to pray together for world mission.
While the World Mission Days are primarily directed towards the ETS staff and student body, we encourage interested friends to join us, and particularly those who are, or have been, involved in various forms of mission. Please get in touch with us by emailing [email protected] or by using the form below if you hope to attend future events so that we can ensure that there is sufficient space.
ETS holds four World Mission Days within the academic session. These days, two per semester, are set aside to hear God’s word, explore issues in mission, and spend time in prayer together as staff, students and interested friends.
